And here are just some random pictures from around the school

On the 2nd saturday students that where not scuba certified went to a place owned by the school called The Grodo. A sink hole about 280 ft. deep. I went along to get some diving in. At 100 ft. I found a plane and at 110 found a boat. The water was about 62F and vis was 20 feet.

here are some pics from our first and second day of diving

About 2 week into school me and some class mates decided that we didn't like dorm life. People coming drunk almost every night and 2-4 in the morning gets old and having to keep every think under lock and key was not the cool either. So we found and apartment with 4 bedrooms. 250 buck a month, and 10 min drive from the school. Much much better and cheaper.
Sorry its been a while since the last post. I will try and sum up the reset of my freshmen month.
We study, Construction Math, Physics, Physiology, Dive Medicine, CPR & First Aid, Diving Equipment and Basic Hat Maintenance and Repair. The hardest for me was the physiology and dive med. Lots of terms t learn. We dove and couple more times, first in the 20' tanks where we practiced taking apart a flange ( pieces of pipe bolted together ) and putting it back together. Next we went in the 10' tanks, did the flange project again then they they taped over or face plate so we could not see and did the flange project again. I did ok, the hardest thing was getting every thing to line up right so you could get the bolts in. Next we cut a piece of metal with a hack saw, and last of all we used a lift bag to move the flange project around the tank. It was a fun day of diving. The only part I didn't like was the first day of the two days it took the whole class to do this was I was the Standby Diver, because I was the only one there with rescue training. Which meant I sat there all day will all my gear on, mask ready to be thrown on at any time, all day! weight belt and all. And it wasn't like and chain was comfy. The good thing about it was that I could watch everyone getting set up and see what they did right and what they did wrong, which help me learn what not to do.
The next dive was on our last week of the 4 week block, (Freshmen month ) we dove the river for the first time. Now that was a blast! I was only 20-25 feet deep, but when you got down 2 feet could not see the surface, 10 feet everything was red, 20 feet blackout. I could not see my hand in front of my face. You relied on your tender and the com guys to tell you were to go. Back, left, right, follow your umbilical. On top they can see your bubbles coming up so they know about where you are. You have to account for the water current which was moving pretty good. On the bottom the current made me have to really lean side ways to stay in place or move. There is all kinds of stuff down there. A pipe line that goes to a mock up oil rig, metal cylinders, big pieces concrete and tires are some of the thinks I ran into. We all took turns diving, tending, and running the coms. Over all a fun 2 days.

Friday was momies day as they called it, Graduation. The Freshmen ( us ) had to set up all the tables and chairs and what not for the grad ceremony and the lunch after. They did the senior graduation, we ate, cleaned up, they took our freshmen test, which covered every think we have learned since the start of school. I passed with a 87%.

The next day I jumped on a plane and went home for a week. Spring Break! I was really nice to go home and see every one and be with my family.
